Pastors Emmit and Linda Latimer

Both Pastors were very active in their church.  Over the last 14 years prior to pastoring, they held a variety of leadership positions including the Youth Department, Audio Department, Praise Team, Evangelistic Team, COTR Camp, Sunday School and New Members Class.  In addition, they were blessed to have the ministry birthed in their living room, when Bishop Pitts called for the Church on The Rocks' very first Bible Study,

Who would have thought that many years later, and 5 churches birthed through the holyspirit, that God would call them in 2007, when they were very satisfied working with their bishop.  Pastor Em and Pastor Linda are very excited about what God is doing and expect great things from him.

In addition to pastoring full time, Pastor Linda works as a middle school teacher in the public school system.  She is honored to be Dean of the Training for Service School of Ministry, Youth Convention Chairperson and the director of the Church on the Rock Christian Academic Camp; a faith-based camp that runs for 7 weeks each summer.

Pastor Linda recently has been favored to be a Bishop-elect; she will be ordained a Bishop this summer.

Our Church

It was late November of 2006 when Bishop Marcia Pitts, summoned Elders Emmit and Linda Latimer to her office. She began to share what they already knew, that God had said that their time was now.

 Although they both knew that one day they would be shepherding a flock, they were both very comfortable in their positions at Church on The Rock.

However, they feared God too much, to reject the call. So armed with their sons, Brandon and Micaiah and 2 saints that were released to go with them, Minister Cynthia Truitt and Sis. Katara Howard, they branched out and had their very first Bible study on January 10, 2007.

Their first Bible Study and service was held in their home in New Castle, Delaware.

Although they were few in number, they knew that God would be doing something BIG. The first Sunday in February, they walked into the Hampton Inn, in Pennsville, New Jersey by faith; believing that what God had promised, he would certainly do.

They certainly were not disappointed. God began to mold this small group into a church with sound doctrine, strong faith and an ability to fulfill the commandment “to compel them to come.”

With that, they began to hit the streets of Pennsville, Pennsgrove and Salem to remind every person that they came in contact with, that Jesus was still Alive and Well! Today, they are still doing that for God’s word is true, he has began to add to the church daily…..

She is a woman of God whose life is surrounded with prayer and devotion. Bishop Pitts received her Doctorate of Divinity from Jameson Christian College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1995.

Today the membership of Church On The Rock consist of close to 200 members.

There are 6 additional churches under Church on the Rock Ministries, a Training for Service School of Ministry and a  Christian Academic Camp which has been in operation for over 12 years.

Along with being an anointed vessel of God, Bishop Pitts is an accomplished musician.

Bishop Pitts is also in the process of completing her first book. Her favorite pastime is gardening. She is the widow of the late Elder Joseph M. Pitts, Sr. the mother of 3 daughters and 1 son, and the proud grandmother of 5.

In May of 2011, after 17 years of widowhood, Bishop Pitts married  Bishop E. Jones.
